Brightening the World at Vermont Law & Grad School
Tunbridge, VT Artist Matthew Denton Shares His Vibrant Artwork

June 25, 2025
South Royalton, VT—As if the days aren’t bright enough in South Royalton, and the futures of Vermont Law and Graduate School students not already thoroughly vivid and promising for our world, Tunbridge, VT artist Matthew Denton has injected even more color and vibrancy with his new show now up through August at VLGS’s Dean Shirley A. Jefferson Gallery.
This 2-D display of vinyl art on aluminum sheet metal will brighten your day as you stroll into the Jefferson Gallery from the Law and Graduate School’s campus. It’s open to the public at no charge, and Denton’s art, ranging from the whimsical to a postmodern blend of imagery and conceptual pop, dazzles. From images of a tree frog and avocados to those of Salvadore Dali, Bob Marley, and Marilyn Monroe, I’m a fan, and I hope you’ll visit and enjoy this show.

The Jefferson Gallery is part of the school’s Chase Center connector between the VLGS Café and the Cornell Library. You’re welcome to grab a cup of coffee and wander the gallery hallway to take in Denton’s brilliant images. Then stroll the VLGS campus and enjoy the natural beauty of the White River as it flows swiftly past. A more beautiful campus in a naturally artistic spot is hard to find.
You can also visit Denton’s website by clicking here to see a larger sampling of his work. He’s been active with local communities to design and paint colorful large-scale murals with elementary school students in Corinth (Waits River Valley School), Tunbridge, Stockbridge, Northfield, and others. And, now, his work is here in South Royalton for us to enjoy. At a school like VLGS, whose motto is “Law for the Community and the World”, artist Matthew Denton fits right in—and in dazzling style!

Finally, I appreciated this vision statement from Denton’s website:
To inspire and unite communities through the creation of dynamic murals that reflect the unique beauty and diversity of their surroundings. My vision is to bring art to every corner of the world, connecting people of all ages through creativity and joy.
Denton’s art has certainly brought to Vermont Law and Graduate School a visual pop that’s brightening everyone’s day. His reference to the beauty and diversity of our surroundings is so consonant with VLGS’s Summer Programs in Environmental Law happening now that it makes me smile. Thank you, Matthew Denton, for displaying your artwork at Vermont Law and Graduate School, here, along the banks of the White River, where natural beauty abounds.
