After several months of cutting my own hair during this COVID-19 pandemic, I pulled up to the Junction Barber Shop in White River Junction, VT to find its doors closed for good. Many people are finding their favorite haunts closed due to the pandemic. What to do? In this case, I really needed a haircut. I had to put an end to cutting the hair on the back of my head while juggling a mirror in one hand and an electric trimmer in the other. It just wasn’t working. I needed a barber shop.
I quickly searched the Junction Barber Shop’s Facebook page and found a phone number to call in Quechee, VT for Debbie, the woman who’d been cutting my hair for many years. I was relieved to hear her familiar voice, and was ecstatic when she said she was open in Quechee, cutting hair, and could take me in less than an hour’s time. I could find her at 6985 Woodstock Road (Route 4) in Quechee, not far past the Quechee Gorge on the right-hand side as I headed west towards Quechee village.
Debbie has turned the old Quechee Barber Shop space into a comfortable place for everyone, young and old, women, men, or children to get their hair cut. It’s bright, freshly painted, and easy to get to. Just call 802-291-2648 to make an appointment. My hair cut cost just 17 bucks, though that price will climb to $21 in 2021.
This might not be the Junction Barber Shop, but it’s a great place to go and get your hair cut. And Debbie still uses that small vacuum cleaner with a long hose and soft brush to remove the hair from around my ears and neck after she’s done cutting my hair. So I don’t feel like I have to run home and take a shower.
Here’s to Debbie, my long-time barber, and her new business adventure, Quechee Cuts, opened during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. Please patronize her to keep this new small business venture of hers growing and going strong.
Oh, and I should also mention that Debbie offers accupressure, reflexology, reiki, and foot detox treatments. In addition to many years cutting hair, Debbie has worked as a massage therapist at Woodstock Spa since 2012, so she knows the body well. I’m told that foot detox can help with smoking cessation, in addition to its overall detoxifying and incredibly relaxing qualities.
So, if you live within striking distance of Quechee, and are tired of cutting your own hair while in quarantine, or live in White River and haven’t fond a new barber, don your face mask and visit Debbie at Quechee Cuts. Look for the red/white/black Quechee Cuts sign and Open flag by the road.

So gay to mention that you “tipped generously”. Pure virtue signaling. Her prices are nearly double what they were 4 years ago.
